Join Heckers for our annual Grow to Eat Festival from the 28 September to 6 October 2019.  Here, we will be showcasing all aspects of food gardening!  Entrance to the festival is free and friendly pets on leashes are welcome. 

We have collaborated with our suppliers to bring you a magnificent collection of herbs, veggies, berries, fruit trees, and much more. Additionally, workshops have been lined up to show you how to grow, use and preserve your own edibles. Learn all about organic gardening, catch up on the latest edible trends and find out how you can start a food garden with limited space.

Getting creative with edibles. Landscaper and garden expert, David Viljoen, will share creative ways of growing edible plants in limited spaces. Join him for a fun DIY morning where you will create your own edible masterpiece as a gift to yourself or someone special.

Edible container workshop. Johan du Preez will show you how to plant your own fabulous vegetable and herb container! This is an ideal opportunity for novice gardeners who want to get into the world of food gardening but don’t know where to start. Children from age the of 12 are welcome.

Herbal Lifestyle Support Workshop. Join herbal expert, Janet Visee to learn more about using herbs for your every-day wellness. You will learn more about the numerous ways in which you can use herbs to improve your lifestyle. This will be followed with a practical component where you will make your own body scrub to take home.

“This workshop will see Linda Gavald, presenter of ‘Gardening 101’ guide you through all the steps of growing organic edibles. Amongst others, you will learn about all the basics of growing edibles from seed. Finally, Linda will guide you through the process of making biodegradable pots to take home.”
