Heckers Garden Centre first opened its doors in 1981 as an extension of Ronnie and Rika’s passion and love for nature in all its
shapes and guises. We strive to inspire local gardeners to transform their homes into a wonderful, healing and environmentally
friendly retreat, by using our excellent garden products, honest, friendly service and practical solutions.
We also grow our own plants through the Hecker Homegrown brand, through which we are able to provide you with premium
quality plants and great prices with virtually no carbon footprint.
Join us for a relaxing stroll through the Nursery accompanied by soothing bird calls, or pop in at Café Ambrosia which will satisfy
any craving, sweet or savoury.
At Heckers garden center, we take pride in offering our customers high-quality plants at affordable prices. One of the ways we achieve this is by growing our own range of plants on-site, a tradition we’ve upheld for over 40 years. Our founders, Rika and Ronnie Hecker, started this tradition in 1981 out of their shared passion for plants.
Growing our own plants has allowed us to significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Additionally, our locally grown plants are acclimatized to the local environment, making them hardier and more likely to thrive in our customers’ gardens.
By choosing our range of plants, you’re not only supporting a local business but also contributing to a more sustainable future. We invite you to come and browse our selection of plants and experience the difference that locally grown makes.
At Heckers Garden Centre, we’re proud to say that we’re committed to environmental sustainability, and we’re constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact on the planet. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that we recycle all horticultural plastics, including pots, trays, and other plastic containers commonly used in the gardening industry.
We understand the importance of reducing plastic waste and minimizing our impact on the environment. That’s why we offer a unique service that allows our customers to participate in our take one, leave one program. This program allows customers to drop off their used horticultural plastics at our designated recycling bin, and then pick up an equivalent amount of clean, recycled plastics to use for their gardening needs. It’s a great way to reduce waste and help us all do our part to protect the planet.
We take pride in our commitment to sustainability, and we’re constantly looking for new ways to reduce our impact on the environment. We hope that you’ll join us in our efforts to promote sustainability and protect the planet. Together, we can make a difference and build a more sustainable future.
